More positive cases revealed as Nottingham Forest learn latest coronavirus testing results

The latest round of coronavirus testing for Nottingham Forest and their Championship rivals saw nine individuals from six different clubs record a positive test.

A total of 1,094 players and staff from all 24 Championship teams were tested over the course of Saturday, May 30, Sunday, May 31, Monday, June 1, and Tuesday, June 2.

In League Two, 126 players and staff were tested from four clubs over the same four-day period, with no individuals testing positive.

An English Football League statement read: “Following the latest round of COVID-19 testing, the EFL can confirm that 1,094 players and club staff from the 24 Championship clubs were tested over the course of Saturday, 30 May, Sunday, 31 May, Monday, 1 June and Tuesday, 2 June, with nine individuals testing positive from six clubs.

“Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.”

On League Two, the statement added: “Following the latest round of COVID-19 testing, the EFL can confirm that 126 players and club staff were tested from four League Two clubs over the course of Saturday, 30 May, Sunday, 31 May, Monday, 1 June and Tuesday, 2 June, with zero individuals testing positive.

“Those players or club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.”

The EFL will not reveal the clubs involved, but Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed they have each recorded one positive test.

One new case was returned in the latest round of testing in the Premier League, it was confirmed earlier.

The results for the previous round of Championship testing, released by the EFL on Saturday, showed 10 positive tests from across eight clubs.

The first round of testing saw two individuals from one club - identified as Hull City - test positive, followed by three individuals from two clubs in the next round, revealed last Thursday.

The Reds are in their second week of training, having returned last week, and are preparing for a restart to the season on June 20.
