More people are learning Greek because of this box office hit

• Christopher Nolan 's film adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey has sparked an increase in public interest in learning Greek .
• The film has achieved considerable box office success, grossing over $640m globally within nine days of its release.
• Google Trends data shows a 5,000 per cent surge in UK searches for “learn Greek” in the past two weeks, alongside a 70 per cent rise in sales of published copies of The Odyssey compared to last year.
• Madeline Enos, a language trends expert for Preply, credited The Odyssey with creating a spark that “can lead to a deeper understanding of Greece’s linguistic and cultural heritage” in an interview with The Times .
• The Odyssey is on course to become Nolan’s most bankable, beating The Dark Knight Rises (2012), which made $1.085bn (£814m).
