More London New Year's Eve fireworks display tickets go on sale

The last batch of tickets to see the New Year’s Eve fireworks display in London has been released for sale on Monday.

The fireworks ceremony will take place on the bank of the River Thames, stretching from Lambeth Bridge to Blackfriars Bridge, which will be closed off by City Hall.

Only those who have purchased tickets will be able to gain access to the viewing area.

This year, prices have gone up for non-Londoners to ensure better security and crowd management.

Tickets for London residents will be on sale for £20 and £35, but non-Londoners will have to pay an increased rate of £40 and £55, depending on the ticket tier they purchase.

According to the mayor’s office, the price increase is to comply with Martyn’s Law, which was established after the Manchester Arena terrorist attack of 2017.

The law requires venues with a capacity of over 200 people to have a plan put into place in case there is an attack on their premises.

Londoners will get access to reduced ticket prices of between £20 - £35 (PA)

As such, there will be six different ticketed viewing areas for revellers heading to the capital to watch the annual fireworks display – blue, red, pink, green and white, as well as an orange accessible viewing area.

City Hall has confirmed that only tickets which have been officially purchased from Ticketmaster will be accepted on New Year’s Eve, and no official tickets will be sold on other websites.

The fireworks display is set to be unmissable, with mayor Sadiq Khan once saying of the ceremony in London: “Every year I’m completely astonished by how utterly mesmerising it is. There’s no doubt that these are the best NYE fireworks in the world.”
