More jobs at Myenergi as green-tech specialist enters domestic battery market

High growth microgeneration specialist Myenergi is creating 25 more jobs as it launches its latest innovation.

The Stallingborough company, charging on with expansion of both footprint and product range, is recruiting again.

A huge manufacturing space is currently being added to the state-of-the-art headquarters on the Grimsby gateway site at Pioneer Business Park, while its modular battery system has just been unveiled at trade event Solar Storage Live. Libbi is designed for domestic use, helping those with solar panels to become energy independent.

Having brought forward electric vehicle charging and energy management systems, all manufactured from the temporary base on Alexandra Retail Park, Libbi is the latest product in the Myenergi stable for which there are high hopes. Described as intelligently connected, it can decide when to charge or drain based on home usage, tariffs and generation factors, and can be charged from the grid when power is cheaper, to then use in the day. It also offers blackout backup.

It is a major step for the Binbrook start-up that is in its seventh year of trading, and has attracted backing and board involvement from former Tesco chief executive Sir Terry Leahy and investment house head William Currie.

A recruitment evening is being held on Wednesday, between 6pm and 8pm, for those looking at a career in the renewable energy tech sector. It will include a tour of the facility and one-to-one time with department leads. Those interested are asked to register.

Jordan Brompton, co-founder and chief marketing officer at the firm that has put its name on the front of home club Grimsby Town's shirts for the next three seasons, said: “Myenergi is growing at a rapid pace. We founded the company in 2016, with a team of just two, and now employ more than 400 members of staff. Being situated at the heart of the Humber renewables cluster, we know how important it is to invest in highly skilled, enthusiastic employees that share our passion for sustainability.

“Our recruitment evening offers a warm welcome to anyone interested in a career with Myenergi, giving a taste of what it’s like to work as part of our thriving business. We’ve worked hard to create a great place to work, and we’re keen to continue our rapid expansion by identifying and onboarding the talented team members of tomorrow.”

The latest product is attracting strong endorsements. Former Red Dwarf star and EV evangelist Robert Llewellyn, who now fronts the Fully Charged channel, with almost one million subscribers, has taken a look at the latest product, seeing it at the Stallingborough base ahead of the Birmingham show.

He said: “It looks stunning and it is the next step in domestic energy storage. It is critically important we get as many of those batteries in as many homes as possible as fast as possible, as it is a genuine benefit, not only to the individuals who have got it, but the individuals as well.”
