Technology: Google is recruiting graduates with strong IT skills for a new operations centre in Ireland, according to the Press Association. There are plans to hire 200 staff due to the expansion of Google's European headquarters in Dublin. Developers at the new centre will be working on some of Google's location-based products, including Maps and Places, reported the Guardian.
Work from home: Home shopping company Kleeneze says it has up to 5,000 distributor roles available for students. The company, which offers the chance to set up a business selling products from home, has seen a 200% increase in enquiries since A level results were announced, including from young people who could not secure a place at university.
Meet radio experts: A raft of big names in radio have signed up to a networking event organised to address the under-representation of black and minority ethnic workers in the media industry. The Move on Up Radio event is taking place on 20 October in Greater Manchester's Salford Quays — among those attending will be Radio 1 presenter Trevor Nelson, GMG Radio, Absolute Radio and executives from the BBC. Retail: Tesco plans to create 2,000 new jobs in Scotland as it increases its presence north of the border, according to Herald Scotland. Kicking off this expansion is a new Glasgow store opening next month — creating 100 full and part-time jobs. The company also has a number of other stores in the planning stage and intends to modernise older supermarkets.
High Street: More good news for retail workers as discount chain Poundland unveiled plans to open 50 new stores, in a move which is expected to create up to 2,000 new jobs, according to the Daily Mail.
Careers fair: Wales' largest ever careers and skills event will be held next month, reports the Daily Post in North Wales. There will be more than 100 employers, colleges and training providers attending the free skillscymru event in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium from September 16-18. Among those taking part are BBC Wales, British Gas, Airbus, the RAF and NHS Wales.
