Brentford, meanwhile, clearly had one eye on the league showdown with .

"Of course the Tuesday game is more important, but we wanted to win both games," said Frank.

"A lot of players did well. It is difficult to praise some in front of others because more of less everybody played to a seven or eight out of 10.

"I'm proud of the team, especially with the performance we put in there.

"We got 1-0 down after four minutes to a bit of Premier League brilliance with a beautiful pass.

"Maybe we should have done better inside the box. After that we put so much intensity into it.

"We were brave on the ball. We wanted to play forward. We pressed high. We did everything we wanted to do as Brentford Football Club.

"We deserved at least a draw. Potentially we could have won this game so I'm proud of the boys."
