More houses broken into and targeted in south Dublin following on from 'Carl' scam

South Dublin homes are still being targeted by thieves with numerous houses being broken into in the area following on from the 'Carl' scam that terrorised residents.

At the start of October, Dublin Live reported that Tallaght tenants were being hounded by a mysterious woman as part of the break-in trick.

Residents of Kiltipper were warned to be vigilant of a creepy woman who was going around knocking on doors looking for a place to stay.

When answered, the woman would say that 'Carl sent her' adding that he told her that the house had a bed to spare.

In the last five days alone, houses on Kiltipper Drive and Avenue have been allegedly ransacked and watched by possible intruders.

It is not known whether it is the same people or different groups that are trying to gain access to homes in the Tallaght area.

On Tuesday, thieves allegedly attempted to get in the back door of a house in Kiltipper Drive but were unsuccessful after being scared off by the alarm.

The alleged incident took place at 1pm but the apparent thieves are targeting homes around the clock.

In the late hours of Sunday night, another Kiltipper Drive property was broken into but once again the intruders fled after the house alarm was activiated.

Residents in Old Bawn and the surrounding Aylesbury area have also complained about suspicious activity and various attempted break-ins in the area too.

Focusing on the break-in on Sunday night, he added: "Some criminal damage was caused to the property but nothing was stolen. Investigations are ongoing."

A spokesman for Gardaí in Tallaght said they are investigating several of these attempted break-ins.
