BHOPAL: Despite the harsher second wave and Covid curfews, the passenger and flight movement in May 2021 was better than May 2020.

As per the official data, the flight movement in May 2021 stood at 386. It was only 54 in May 2020. If we compared April-May 2021 to the same period last year we see there were 1,238 flights in the two months period this year. There were only 66 flights in April-May 2020.

The passenger movement in May 2021 was better than May 2020. There was a footfall of 11,866 this year in May. It was only 2,226 last year in May. In all, 50,336 footfall was recorded in April-May 2021, while it was only 2,279 for the same period in 2020. A total of 91 MT movement was recorded in May 2021. It was only 5 MT in May 2020. Director Bhopal airport, KL Agrawal said that the situation has started changing gradually. “Last year there was almost no movement of flights. This year the airport continued working despite such a bad situation. We are hoping that the number of flights will also increase soon,” said Agrawal.

Bhopal airport was at fifth position in the last customer satisfaction survey conducted in 2020. Airport officials said that they will try to keep up the rank.
