Thai Airways International has cancelled more flights between Bangkok and Shanghai and Bangkok and Taipei this weekend due to the impact of Typhoon Bavi.

The airline said the three Saturday flights that were cancelled are:

Bangkok-Shanghai route

  • TG664 leaving Bangkok at 10.45am
  • TG665 leaving Shanghai at 5.25pm

Bangkok-Taipei route

  • TG636 leaving Bangkok at 5.15am

Also cancelled is flight TG637 leaving Taipei to Bangkok at 7.55am on Sunday.

All times are local, the airline noted.

Typhoon Bavi has forced the Taiwanese government to evacuate more than 14,000 people from mainly mountainous areas, mostly in the north and east, as the island shut down for the storm’s ‌medium strength, according to Reuters.

Thxere were 917 international flights cancelled, as well as all 274 domestic flights.

Almost all cities and counties across Taiwan declared a typhoon holiday for Saturday, closing any offices and schools that may have been open on the weekend. The main north-south high-speed rail line remained open, but with a reduced ‌service.

In the capital Taipei, blustery wind and rain persisted, but some people were still out on the street, Reuters reported.
