More families told to quarantine for 14 days as another Renfrewshire high school confirms Covid-19 test

Families with children attending Renfrew High have been asked to quarantine as a Covid-19 positive case is identified at the school.

Renfrewshire Council confirmed last night that staff at the Haining Road campus had been working with NHS public health officials to identify all those who had been in close contact with the infected person.

Those individuals, together with everyone else in their household, have been asked to stay home for 14 days.

All other parents of children attending the school have been notified by text message and were told to return to the school as normal this morning.

A spokesperson for the council said: “NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde public health team advise there is currently no evidence of transmission within the school itself, that robust control measures are in place, and that the school remains safe to remain open as normal.”

They added: “We all have a role to play to stop the spread of Covid-19.

“If someone in your household develops symptoms of Covid-19, please do not send your child to school.

“Everyone in the house should self-isolate and the person with symptoms should be tested as soon as possible. If they test positive, the whole household must quarantine for 14 days.”

Symptoms of Covid-19 include a high temperature or fever, a new continuous cough or a loss of/change in sense of smell or taste.
