More dramatic thunderstorms to hit Leeds TODAY as 34C temperatures come crashing down

As you sit at your desk sweating in this unbearable heat, a cool rain shower seems as unlikely as Boris Johnson getting a sensible haircut.

At its peak, the mercury will rise to an incredible 34°C today - yet it'll feel like 37°C!

However, those crazy temperatures will quickly subside once a dramatic thunderstorm hits Leeds, which could see a repeat of the sky being lit up by bolts of lightning, much like it was in Tuesday morning's impressive display.

You'll have to struggle through the day with the hottest temperatures of the year before then though, with temperatures of 34°C expected between 3pm and 5pm.

Soon after, scattered thunderstorms are forecast for Leeds, with 8pm the scheduled time to look out of the window for more hypnotic scenes and to listen out for claps of thunder.

The rain should cool things down, but only a little - it's still expected to be 25°C at 11pm tonight.
