More disruption set for Radcliffe-on-Trent as A52 roadworks planned

There will be further disruption for motorists on the A52 as more roadworks are planned for Radcliffe-on-Trent.

Work is currently taking place in the town with further works planned along on the A52 for Silverdale, Stragglethorpe and Gamston in the coming months.

Improvements to Nottingham Road and Cropwell Road junctions in Radcliffe-on-Trent are already complete, according to Highways England.

It says the work across the A52 will serve to reduce congestion along the busy route and lead to less queuing.

However, a lot of queuing traffic has been reported through Radcliffe since initial utility works began back in June this year.

Highways England has confirmed to Nottinghamshire Live that utility works, which began three months ago, are set to resume again on September 23 - and be completed by September 30.

Work on the Bingham Road junction is expected to resume after these works are finished - more details on how long these works will take will be released at a later date.

Kanishka Varoon, Project Manager for National Highways, said: “The scheme is incredibly important for Nottingham because it will alleviate congestion along the A52.

“The A52 is an important east-west link across the East Midlands and this route regularly experiences congestion due to capacity issues at key junctions, resulting in significant queuing and delays for motorists.

“Once complete, this scheme will improve journeys, help address existing delays and support planned new development along the A52 and around Nottinghamshire.

“While we’re doing everything we can to keep people informed of progress, I’m sure local residents will have questions around the latest plans and traffic management, so we encourage everyone to join in or get in touch with us to find out more.”

As the work continues to gather pace, the A52 project team will be hosting a virtual event later this month to explain the plans for the forthcoming work at the location.

Those joining online will have an opportunity to ask questions as well as hear about the benefits the improvements will bring to the Nottingham region.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 22 at 5pm.
