More Dior

Maison Christian Dior on M Floor, Iconsiam.

A fragrance as much a fashion house, Dior has been making scents for over 70 years. The heady perfume of debut Miss Dior filled the air when Christian Dior presented his first haute couture collection on Feb 12, 1947.

Scenting the room is a part of the French brand's art de vivre, and perfuming is a fully-fledged lifestyle at Maison Christian Dior (MCD), located on M Floor, Iconsiam.

The stand-alone boutique boasts an understated yet luxurious interior design, through the juxtaposition of white marble and polished concrete with a warm wood floor. At the back, the screen and imagery evoke a window with a view of Château de La Colle Noire in Montauroux, near Grasse in southern France.

Once a residence of Chistian Dior, the property and its garden have been revived to continue the couturier's vision in planting flowers for making Dior fragrances.

The boutique houses only the MCD collection, whose 22 perfumes are categorised into florals, light florals, fruity fresh, sensuals and orientals.

La Colle Noire, for instance, is a floral inspired by blooming Centifolia roses in the château's garden in springtime.

Fashion inspired fragrances include New Look 1947, of which notes of rose, jasmine and tuberose are orchestrated to represent a narrow-waisted skirt with a large quantity of fabric giving its whirling vivacity.

Lucky is inspired by the way in which the legendary fashion designer would stitch a lily of the valley stem into the seam of his dresses for good luck. The fragrance is a profusion of white flowers, with the lily of the valley note gradually revealing itself.

The signature scents have also been transferred to soaps and candles, exclusively available at MCD, along with interior fragrances and The Mitzahs collection of silk scarves.

Made for perfuming, the scarves can be tied around the neck, wrist or hair, a ritual inspired by Christian Dior's muse, the designer Mitzah Bricard.

The boutique also provides a wrapping service, for the art of gifting and sharing the love of perfume with others.
