More details have emerged ahead of Edinburgh’s Christmas at the Botanics event this year.
The Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh have already confirmed their festive event will be returning - and Edinburgh Live has uncovered more details about this year’s event on a planning application to the city council.
This year Christmas at the Botanics is open to the public for 32 non-consecutive dates, from Thursday November 25 to Sunday January 2.
The trail, over one-mile long, will open from 4.30pm and close at 10pm but is a fully ticketed experience, operating to timed 15 minute entry slots, with the final entry at 8:30pm.
Upon arrival visitors will be met by seasonal music, decorations and atmospheric festoon lighting. Seasonal food and drink will be on offer and seasonal gifts for sale in the Botanics shop.

They will then begin on the hour-long walking route, taking visitors on a loop around the gardens through the illuminated trail.
The organisers will utilise the existing catering and retail facilities already operating in the Gardens and there will be new “pop up” catering units offering festive refreshments around the walking trail, offering the likes of marshmallows, mulled wine etc.
Audiences will be able to access the trail via the Visitor Centre at John Hope Gateway or from East Gate which is on a public transport route. Tickets on sale for East Gate have been limited and approximately 60 per cent of visitors will access the trail through John Hope Gateway, with the remaining 40 per cent accessing the trail through the East Gate.
The exact opening days for this year’s Christmas at the Botanics are planned as: Thursday November 25 to Sunday November 28, Wednesday December 1 to Sunday December 5, Wednesday December 8 to Friday December 24, Sunday December 26 to Thursday December 30 and finally Sunday January 2.
