THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The announcement of new KPCC office-bearers was delayed further as the high command is unhappy with the list submitted by KPCC leadership. The list submitted by the state leadership is still with AICC general secretary Tariq Anwar and it has not been handed over to the party president for final approval.
The list was submitted after a detailed consultation with senior party leaders, including group leaders. It is learnt that the high command is unhappy that many of the leaders accommodated in the list are those who were defeated in assembly elections or others who were MLAs in the past.
The high command is learnt to have asked the state leadership to accommodate more women in the list. Sources said the present list has only three, which was unacceptable to the high command.
The groups have been putting pressure to ensure their nominees and hence KPCC leadership is unable to take a final call. The nominees of ‘I’ and ‘A’ groups for the vice-president post have become another roadblock as the high command is learnt to have rejected the names proposed by the groups. Hence, talks are also on to replace these leaders.
Now, state leadership is having talks once again to finalize the names. However, leaders in the state are clueless about who all will be there in the final list. Both ‘A and I’ groups had submitted a list of their nominees to be included in various posts and now the group leaders are unaware who all have got the final nod.
Group leaders are alleging that none of the final decisions or the final list are being discussed with senior party leaders. They are worried that the party high command is not listening to their grievances. Even after VM Sudheeran resigned from the political affairs committee and AICC membership, the high command didn’t take steps to pacify him.
