More coronavirus deaths recorded at Greater Manchester's hospitals

Eight more people have died from coronavirus at Greater Manchester's hospitals.

It brings the region's death toll to 2,015, NHS Englabnd figures show.

The data published includes deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.

But the figures do not include COVID-19 fatalities in the wider community - including care homes.

On Tuesday four more people were reported to have died at Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and another two deaths were recorded at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust each recorded one more death, bringing the death toll at the latter trust to 250.

The total number of coronavirus deaths at hospital trusts in Greater Manchester as of Tuesday, June 23, stands at:

  • Bolton NHS Foundation Trust - 221

  • Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust - 9

  • Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust - 414

  • NHS Nightingale North West - 6

  • Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust - 530

  • Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust - 6

  • Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust - 176

  • Stockport NHS Foundation Trust - 206

  • Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - 184

  • The Christie NHS Foundation Trust - 13

  • Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust - 250

Some of the larger trusts run several hospitals in Greater Manchester.

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust oversees the Manchester Royal Infirmary (MRI), Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General, while Pennine Acute is in charge of North Manchester General Hospital, Fairfield Hospital, the Royal Oldham Hospital and Rochdale Infirmary.

On Tuesday another 46 deaths were recorded in hospitals in England, the NHS said.

Across the North West 15 more deaths were reported.

It brings the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 28,384.
