A couple of months ago it was bra wars - Europe was going all protectionist on ladies' undergarments. People in the rag trade were predicting shortages.
Now, says the Daily Telegraph, it's shoes. Imports of shoes are to be restricted - which will no doubt push the price up and squeeze the smaller outlets who can't buy in the quantities of, say, the extremely successful Debenhams, which is riding out the High Street pinch in style.
