More chaos at Pen Y Fan with more than two miles of cars parked on verges

There were more than two miles of parked cars on the side the A470 as people made the most of the weather to climb Pen y Fan.

South Wales' highest peak has always been popular with walkers but this This was the hottest place in Wales yesterday and how hot it will get today has been another level of busy.

Yesterday people were forming orderly queues to get the classic iconic shot at the top of the mountain.

Today it seems to have been even busier with cars lining both sides of the road for over two miles.

The cars, which normally just occupy the Storey Arms car parks, were backed up beyond the traditional car parks south beyond the Beacons Reservoir. This was the hottest place in Wales yesterday and how hot it will get today

This is the parking chaos at Pen y Fan over Easter weekend

According to South Wales Police the car parks were full by 10am this morning.

In a statement a police spokeswoman said: "The car park at Pont At Daf is already full with numerous cars parking on verges.

"If you are planning a visit to Pen y Fan today please use an alternate parking facility. Also please abide by the 30mph limit! It’s there for the safety of all!"

Walkers not only braved the climb but also the hayfever with pollen counts at some of the highest levels this year.

With some parts of Wales reaching 26C many people have even taken picnic tables to the summit to enjoy a spot of lunch.

People are taking to social media to show of their climbs.

It was even busy at 6am!
