Eight more celebrities reported to police Tuesday to explain their roles as ambassadors for Magic Skin cosmetics and weight loss products which were later found to be falsely advertised.
The group met and gave their information to deputy national police chief Pol Gen Wirachai Songmetta at the Royal Thai Police headquarters.
Pol Gen Wirachai said Tuesday the celebrities were treated as innocent and had given statements to police purely as witnesses.
They were Phonphan "Jennifer Kim" Chunhachai, Sarunrat "Lydia" Deane, Virithipa "Woonsen" Phakdeeprasong, Rybena "Nana" Tanwimon, Sumonthip "Gubgib" Leuanguthai, Natalie Davis, Rasri "Margie" Chirathivat and Patsarakorn "Pok" Chirathivat.
Pol Gen Wirachai said a total of 37 celebrities have so far been summoned for questioning over their alleged involvement in promoting products for Magic Skin Co for money, 23 of whom have already reported to the investigation team.
Police still are waiting for laboratory results from the Department of Medical Sciences, which will determine the quality of the products, he said.
Ms Phonphan, a famous singer better known as Jennifer Kim, said she had tried Kalow, a weight-loss product, for one month without experiencing any side effects and she had looked the product up in the Food and Drug Administration's database for registered products before she agreed to do a review.
The singer denied having anything else to do with the company other than being hired to promote the product.
The celebrities insisted that they had tried the products before promoting them and were unaware of the false FDA labels and this case had been a lesson for them to take more care in checking products before agreeing to endorse them.
