More babies will be born on September 26 than any other day this year for two reasons

Thousands of babies are expected to be born next week on Monday September 26.

On average, more babies are born on this date than any other day of the year, and it's estimated that nearly 2,000 newborns will enter the world on September 26 this year.

There are three dates next week that often see the most births, and this year is likely to be no different.

There are two reasons why so many babies are born on September 26 every year. The first is that parents have likely got a little too cosy over the festive period, meaning babies are born nine months later.

The other reason why births are so popular around this time may be because of parents planning to have kids at the start of the school year.

Analysis from greeting card company thortful.com of official UK government data states that that the most popular days for a baby to be born are September 26 (1,974 births on average), 25 (1,965) and 24 (1,958), Hull Live reports.

According to the Office for National Statistics, eight of the top 10 birth dates in the UK are at the end of September and the other two are in October. This may be because people had celebrated over the festive season.

The least common days to be born are December 25 and 26, with January 2 is thought to be the most popular time to conceive.

A spokesperson from the company said: "If your birthday is coming up in September it’s safe to say that your parents had a very merry Christmas. Fear not, though, as you share the same experience of being born in September with thousands of other people around the world."

Andy Pearce, Co-founder and CEO at thortful.com, said: "At thortful we celebrate all birthdays, and it’s great to hear the news that thousands of more birthdays will be created by pending parents this upcoming Christmas."

Will you be celebrating your birthday on any of these popular dates next week? Let us know in the comments.
