More babies will be born on September 26 than any other day for two good reasons

National baby day will hit the UK next week - the day on which more babies are born, on average than any other day of the year. Every year, nearly 2,000 children are born on September 26.

thortful.com analysed live birth data from the UK government, which revealed that the most popular days for a baby to be born are September 26 (1,974 births on average), 25 (1,965) and 24 (1,958).

A spokesman said: "If your birthday is coming up in September it’s safe to say that your parents had a very merry Christmas. Fear not, though, as you share the same experience of being born in September with thousands of other people around the world."

To celebrate the days when most babies are conceived, thortful.com has created birthday cards for those who were conceived over the Christmas holidays.

Andy Pearce, Co-founder and CEO at thortful.com, said: “At thortful we celebrate all birthdays, and it’s great to hear the news that thousands of more birthdays will be created by pending parents this upcoming Christmas.”

According to the Office for National Statistics, eight of the top 10 birth dates in the UK are at the end of September and the other two are in October. This may be because parents are planning to have children at the start of the school year - as well as people celebrating over the festive season.

The least common days to be born are December 25 and 26.

January 2 is thought to be the most popular time to concieve.
