More 75,000 vulnerable people vaccinated against coronavirus in Forth Valley

More than 75,000 people across Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannashire have now received a coronavirus vaccine.

It's after an expansion of vaccination centres in the Forth Valley and to those aged 65 and over.

Health bosses say work is now underway to start giving out second doses.

From the 1st of March, everyone in their 60s and those aged 16 to 64 with certain underlying health conditions as well as unpaid carers will be given their first jag.

Jillian Taylor, Operational Lead for NHS Forth Valley’s Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, said: "We are delighted at the levels of uptake achieved so far and I would like to thank everyone who has attended a local vaccination session over the last few months.

"I would also like to the thank our local immunisation teams and GP Practice colleagues who are working tirelessly to deliver the vaccine across Forth Valley.

"As well as many council, Health and Social Care Partnership staff, military planners and volunteers who have assisted enormously with the planning and delivery of this large and complex vaccination programme."
