Morale of police force down as Rajasthan Congress government working under MLAs' pressure: BJP

JAIPUR: Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia attacked the Congress government over law and order situation in the state, alleging that the morale of the police force has come down as the government is working under the pressure from its MLAs.

Poonia said the Ashok Gehlot government is working under pressure from its MLAs ever since the political crisis happened last year and many illegal businesses related to criminals have started.

"Criminals are roaming fearlessly. Policemen are being targeted now. What happened with a police inspector and a head constable in Sikar yesterday clearly shows the level of law and order during the Congress rule," Poonia told reporters on Wednesday.

He was referring to the incident of firing and loot with a police inspector and a head constable in Sikar on Tuesday. Unidentified miscreants shot at the head constable and looted the car of the inspector at a roadside dhaba.

Poonia said rackets have flourished under the Congress rule due to political patronage and the government is not able to act against them, which has "weakened" the morale of the police force.
