Moped rider arrested after allegedly failing a roadside drug test

Police have arrested a moped rider who allegedly failed a roadside drug test after being stopped in Sale.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police were patrolling in Sale when they saw a moped rider carefully watching the patrol car.

He was watched the car so intently that he failed to notice the car in front of him stop, and allegedly nearly crashed into the back of it.

When officers stopped the man, he claimed he'd done nothing wrong, before he allegedly failed a drug test.

Police arrested the rider, and shared details of the incident on the GMP Traffic divison's Twitter account.

The tweet read: "The rider of this moped was paying far too much attention to ME51’s liveried traffic car in Sale rather than ahead of him as the car ahead stopped & he nearly crashed into it.

"Rider took grievance at being stopped & denied wrong-doing.

"He then failed a drug test."
