Moped gang are stealing motorbikes and taunting the victims on Instagram

A group of thieves targeting motorbikes Weston-super-Mare are taunting victims of theft by posting pictures of their ill-gotten gains on Instagram.

The group calling themselves Weston Repo Guys claim to repossess bikes which are ‘neglected.’

They are then posting pictures of the vehicles on their Instagram page, inviting victims to ‘smile’ if they see their bike.

Videos of 'gang' members riding motorcycles have also been posted on the Instagram page.

The page has infuriated local riders who say there has been a spike in bike thefts in the seaside town in recent months.

The page shows pictures of riders – with their faces covered up with emojis – on various motorbikes.

Pictures of a range of bikes, from mopeds to scramblers and larger road bikes, are pictured.

It is reported that the bike gang may be operating from the town’s Oldmixon Estate.

A warning was put on the Facebook page Spotted Weston after another motorcycle owner fell victim to the thieves.

The post was quickly re-posted on the Weston Repo Guys Instagram page, which has recently been made a private group.

The warning said: “There’s a group of lads aged between 17-20 calling themselves Weston Repo Man on Instagram that are stealing people’s motorbikes, mopeds etc.

“Name unknown but they defo live on the Oldmixon or just operate there.

“A young lad where I work has become a victim of this gang and seen his bike on their Instagram page.

“Just thought people should be aware that they’re not bothered and will nick anything off anyone.”

A police spokesman said: “If it has been reported to police then we will be investigating.”

Bristol suffered a spate of motorbike thefts being broadcast on social media last year.
