Moped driver seriously injured in hit and run near Leeds railway bridge

A moped driver has been left with "serious injuries" after a hit and run crash with a car.

The collision happened near the railway bridge on Austhorpe Road in the Manston area on Sunday afternoon.

The moped driver, 27, suffered injuries to his arm and was taken to hospital.

Police are now appealing for witnesses following the collision.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: "The incident occurred yesterday afternoon (October 17 2021) at around 1.30pm, close to the railway bridge in Austhorpe Road, Leeds, where it is reported that a Peugeot motorcycle collided with another vehicle, which failed to stop at the scene.

"The driver of the moped, a 27-year-old man, was left with serious injuries to his arm and taken to hospital.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have dash cam that will assist the investigation is asked to contact PC Bastow of the Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference 13210531773."
