Moovit to offer alternative routes to train riders

From September 19 through 27, the Tel Aviv Hashalom, Tel Aviv Savidor-Merkaz and Tel Aviv University train stations will be closed, to allow for track upgrades necessary to the future Tel Aviv-Jerusalem high-speed rail line. During that time, Moovit will be publishing all expected changes on the train lines as well as the increased number of buses operating instead of the trains, the firm said.

Moovit is also encouraging commuters to make use of its new app, Moovit Carpool, which enables travelers to connect with each other and share private car trips, at a cost comparable to that of public transportation, the company explained. Drivers can define the departure time and itinerary of their trip, while passengers plan their route as normal on the regular Moovit app. If a match between driver and passenger itineraries exists, the passenger is alerted to the possibility of joining the trip, driver approval pending.
