Students in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan got an up-close lesson on the animal kingdom yesterday, when a moose leapt through the window of their school.
More than a dozen children were reportedly in the room at a before-school program at Sylvia Fedoruk school in Saskatoon at the time of the moose's dramatic entrance.
"My youngest yells out the window, 'mom, there's a moose. And of course, I'm like, 'No, there's not a moose, what are you talking about,'" witness Ashley Young told Canadian news network Global News.
An image shared widely on social media shows the moose standing in the classroom in front of a broken window, while others show it sitting behind a closed glass door.
In one image, shards of glass cover the floor where the animal crashed into the classroom.
The moose had earlier been spotted on the loose in Saskatoon, the largest city of Saskatchewan, apparently lost.
But its escapades remained harmless until it crashed into the school.
Once children had been safely removed from the classroom, conservation officers from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment tranquillised the moose and loaded it onto the back of a truck.
It was then taken to a safe location and released.
"The moose on the loose avoided a stop at the principal’s office and was sent on its way with conservation officers to find a safer place to prance," Saskatoon police said.
