Moors Murders cops promise to carry on hunt for remains of victim Keith Bennett

Police have sworn to continue their hunt for the remains of Moors Murder victim Keith Bennett, who was murdered by notorious serial killer couple, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley in June 1964. Officers have spent three days searching Saddleworth Moor but have not located any human remains, the Mirror reports.

The latest search was instigated after Greater Manchester Police received an image from author Russell Edwards of what he believed to be part of a jaw bone that he had uncovered in a remote location on the Moors. Senior investigating officer Cheryl Hughes said: “Work to excavate the site is continuing.”

Keith Bennett was only 12 when he was kidnapped by evil Ian Brady and Myra Hindley nearly sixty years ago. Brady killed him and buried him on the moors. The owner of the land where police are digging says he promised Keith’s dying mother, Winnie, he would never stop looking for him. Farmer Chris Crowther, 65, said: “I have always been looking ever since.”

Chris revealed he too could have fallen victim to the murderers when Brady pulled up beside him outside his school in 1963. He added: “I ran back into school.

“Those scary eyes, they were looking straight at me.” The couple’s other victims were Pauline Reade, 16, John Kilbride, 12, Lesley Ann Downey, 10, and Edward Evans, 17.
