The imaginary friend of Martin Moone, the main character, keeps a diary and in it he tells this story…
The Moone family has to live on a budget at Christmas. The youngest son Martin looks for jobs and ends up working as a butcher boy. One day, his boss tells him to go undercover to find out why the fish restaurant on the other side of the street has become so popular and what happens at the factory where the fish comes from. He does figure it out, but I can’t tell you more because that would ruin the mystery! I’ll just tell you that what he discovers is very sad.
This book might look simple, but it’s actually not and I had to really pay attention to what was happening. There are a few words in other languages with translations, and also some facts about other countries.
I think the imaginary friend named Sean is more interesting than Martin, and I absolutely love how he explains what’s going on, and how he describes the way people feel and act.
I’d recommend this to anyone who likes diaries, especially ones with calm beginnings and a shocking end.
