Mookie Betts gets HR request from young fan, mashes three to beat Yankees

Hours before Mookie Betts punished the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, the 2018 AL MVP was visited by 10-year-old fan Nico Sapienza, who asked Betts to hit a home run for him that night. Betts delivered – and then some – belting three home runs in a game for the fifth time in his career.

Betts hit a solo shot over the Green Monster in his first at-bat against Yankees pitcher James Paxton.

In the third inning, Betts smashed another solo shot into the Green Monster seats to give Boston a 4-0 lead.

Betts launched another deep ball over the Monster in the fourth, and became just the eighth player in MLB history with five 3-HR games.
