Montana will temporarily restrict the sale of flavored e-cigarette products in the state next week, Montana's Department of Public Health & Human Services said on Friday.

The big picture: 52 people have died from a lung injury associated with e-cigarette use in 26 states and the District of Columbia, as of Dec. 12. All 50 states and two U.S. territories have confirmed hospital cases associated with the lung injury, per the CDC.

Details: Montana's restrictions apply to flavored THC, nicotine and CBD e-cigarettes sold online and in-store — but retailers are not required to destroy existing inventory. Up to nine cases of lung injury associated with vaping in Montana have been reported to the CDC as of Dec. 10.
