Montana Brown claims Love Island couples 'stay together to make extra cash'

Montana Brown has claimed that Love Island couples feel "under pressure" to stay together after leaving the show and believe that doing so will help them "make more money".

The 24-year-old, who took part in series three of the romance series, added that couples, who met on the ITV2 show, believe if they stay together for a long as possible, it is a 'better look' and helps them stay grounded in an overwhelming time.

"People worry they won't do as well on their own. It's also a really overwhelming time so it can be good to have someone by your side," she told MailOnline.

"They think we will make more money this way and it's a good look. But being together can also feel like a comfort blanket. It's definitely a daunting time."

She added that she thinks people feel "a lot of pressure" to stay as a pair after leaving the hit show.

Montana got with Alex Beattie, 25, in the villa, but the pair split just five days after the show ended.

She said: "It was different for me. I had been in the villa and I was already feeling claustrophobic. I had been in there from the beginning, being in the same place for two months was a lot."

She added that after leaving the show, she didn't want to be with anyone because it was "overwhelming" and she "didn't want to have someone else to consider".

Lovebirds from the 2019 series, Curtis Pritchard, 24, and Maura Higgins, 29, and Tommy Fury, 20, and Molly-May Hague, 20, are still together.

Winter Love Islander contestants Paige Turley, 22, and Finley Tapp, 20, who picked up the coveted ITV crown last week, are expected to rake in thousands.

Montana split from model Elliott Reeder last month but she says they still remain close.
