Monster Mash played to honour legendary Irish entertainer Paddy Drac at funeral

The Monster Mash was played to honour the legendary Paddy Drac at his funeral on Tuesday.

He passed away on Saturday in Tallaght Hospital just after 1pm after a short battle with cancer.

Paddy Finaly, who lived in Tallaght and formerly Crumlin, was famous for marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade dressed as Dracula.

The funeral mass for the beloved Dubliner took place at the St Dominic’s Church in Tallaght on Tuesday.

Paddy - who was an undertaker at Rom Massey's chain of funeral homes- marched in the parade for 49 years straight but was unable to attend the celebrations this year.

Paddy's son, Graham took to Facebook to share the sad news of his passing.

He said: "Friends of Paddy, just to let you know, Paddy lost his short battle with cancer today shortly before 1pm in Tallaght Hospital.

"We will all miss him, may he rest in peace with his Nan. Enjoy the memory of his stories.

"We will post details on RIP.ie through Rom Massey Undertakers and thank you all for your support and love for Paddy. His Son Graham."

Thomas Carolan shared some happy memories about the famous Dubliner saying: "Ah rip paddy many a great night out we had with him."

Ray Dolan added: "Paddy used to meet up with uncle Joe and one night I got a lift in his van, coffin and all. A lovely gentleman he was."

Veronica Molloy said: "Very sad news. Paddy leaves a great legacy of unforgettable memories in the minds of all of Irish people and beyond. Praying for his family and friends, thanks for the memories."

Elaine Monaghan added that he was a "regular feature of our childhood up in the Spawell scaring the bejasus out of us. Thanks for the memories".
