'Monster like you': Women tell of impact of photographer's crimes

'Monster': Allan Todd Cameron was found guilty earlier this year of nine counts of indecent assault and five counts of sexual intercourse without consent.

The crimes of a Lake Macquarie photographer - who raped and indecently assaulted young women who were modelling for him - have caused "irreparable damage and trauma", a court has heard.

Allan Todd Cameron, 57, was found guilty in May of nine counts of indecent assault and five counts of sexual intercourse without consent for offences against seven women over more than five years from 2011.

Cameron had pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Newcastle District Court heard on Friday that Cameron used his position as a photographer to connect with young women, including aspiring models, and gain their trust - holding photo shoots at his Gateshead home.

Crown Prosecutor Paul Marr read several victim impact statements to the court for the record.

Many of the statements spoke of the lasting impacts of Cameron's crimes against them - from post traumatic stress syndrome, anxiety and depression to ongoing problems maintaining relationships, fear of social situations and a lack of trust in men.

In addressing Cameron, one woman said in her statement she was quietly glad she had given birth to sons so she did not have to fear that a daughter of her's would encounter "a monster like you".

"My young and vulnerable trust was betrayed," she said in the statement.

"You have changed my life forever and caused irreparable damage and trauma.

"I just want it to go away, I want to forget about it ... it's always there."

Another victim impact statement said Cameron had "weaseled his way into my life and stuck on like a leach".

In the statement, the woman said the day she was assaulted, she sat on the floor of her shower and scrubbed herself until she bled.

"I felt like I was a piece of meat in a lion's cage," she said.

Mr Marr said Cameron's behaviour was planned and "predatorial" and that the strength of the victims' cases was their unity.

Judge Tim Gartelmann SC on Friday adjourned the matter for sentencing on September 16.

In the meantime, Cameron remains on conditional bail.
