Monster Hunter Wilds Lagiacrus weaknesses, location, drops, and more

Leviathan Lagiacrus is a force to reckon with in Monster Hunter Wilds, so taking it down poses a fun challenge.

Part of a side quest, Lagiacrus is one of the three new monsters in Title Update 2. This guide will give you all the info you need to bring down the Leviathan. Let's begin by taking a look at how you can challenge Lagiacrus.

How to unlock Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Lagiacrus comes in two variants: ordinary and tempered. You'll have to complete the Extra mission titled Trembling Blue Currents. To gain access, reach HR 31. Then, complete two other missions: A World Turned Upside Down and Forest Doshaguma.

Once you complete Trembling Blue Currents, you can then access both the tempered and the ordinary versions. However, you must complete the What Lies Ahead quest at HR 40. Without it, you won't be able to hunt down the Tempered version.

Lagiacrus weaknesses in Monster Hunter Wilds

Before deep diving to check the best tips to defeat this new monster, let's take a look at its weaknesses.

The Lagiacrus is highly resistant to any form of Water and Thunder damage. Fire weapons are the most effective, but you can also resort to Dragon and Ice if they're available. It also depends on Thunder-type attacks, along with inflicting Thunderblight on occasion.

Here are the body parts you'll want to target to deal the highest forms of damage.

  • Head
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Tail

Out of the four, the tail takes the least damage, but it's also a breakable part. You can completely sever it with enough strikes, so it's a good part to target first. You should try to use Fire damage to make it easier for you to sever the tail quickly. Once done, you can target either its back or its chest before switching your focus to the head.

Alternatively, you can focus strictly on the head as it's very easy to knock down Lagiacrus by doing so.

In terms of Status Ailments, Exhaust, Poison, Sleep, and Blast are all equally effective. Both Pitfall Trap and Shock Trap work well to combat the movement pattern of Lagiacrus.

The new Leviathan can be found in the Scarlet Forest within the water biomes.

Best tips and tricks to defeat Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Wilds

Here are some tips to remember when combating the Leviathan.

  • Swim away from the Discharge attack: The Lagiacrus has a Discharge attack that dishes an incredible amount of damage. To keep yourself safe, just swim away as far as possible.
  • Don't try to ascend: It's tough to move sideways and dodge its tackles. Instead, you can ascend in water to escape from being hit by its underwater tackles.
  • Bring down the Head: While the tail is a good part to target, the head is the sweet spot. I found it the most challenging part to target, but it also offers the biggest rewards. Targeting the head allows you to knock the Lagiacrus down and do more damage.

That's pretty much all you have to know and remember when encountering the Lagiacrus in Monster Hunter Wilds.
