BENGALURU: Monsoon, which entered Kerala on Sunday, is set to arrive in the state on June 2 with heavy rainfall expected in coastal and south interior parts of Karnataka.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts, including Bengaluru. "Heavy rainfall measuring up to 7mm may lash Uttara Kannada, coastal districts, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Hassan, Shivamogga, Ramanagara, Kodagu, and Chikkamagaluru," IMD said.
A Prasad, a senior IMD official, told TOI that most parts of Karnataka may receive moderate showers, while 10 districts are likely to witness heavy rain. This year, monsoon has advanced due to cyclone Asani, he added.
Heavy rainfall in May threw life out of gear, especially in Bengaluru. On May 17, the city reeled under floods with several areas and homes inundated and properties damaged.
