Monsoon loses steam, but Bhopal may continue to get rain this week

BHOPAL: Rainfall activity reduced in the state on Sunday. Possibility of heavy showers in the state is bleak till there are fresh formations, but moisture in air would continue thundery development and rain in parts of Bhopal and state.

Officials of the meteorological department Bhopal circle said, there is a cyclonic circulation over north east Rajasthan. There is a trough over west MP, Vidarbha and Telangana. Monsoon trough is passing over the state from Shivpuri and Sidhi. However, the systems are not strong enough to give widespread showers in the state and the rainfall activity would reduce in the state, officials added.

Day temperature in Bhopal on Sunday was recorded at 31.4 degree Celsius, three degrees more than normal mark, while night temperature in the city was 23.7 degrees Celsius, a degree celsius more than the normal mark. Wind direction in the city was southerly while average wind speed was 16 kilometers per hour.

The places that recorded showers between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm in the day were Bhopal 3.7 mm, Jabalpur 3.2 mm, Indore 0.6 mm, Guna 0.2 mm, Ujjain0.2 mm, Seoni 21 mm, Dhar 9.0 mm, Khargone 5.0 mm and Malanjkhand recorded 2.0 mm showers.

In the forecast for Bhopal on Monday the meteorological officials said there would be cloudy sky with possibility of rain. Day and night temperature in the city would be respectively at 30 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius while average wind speed will be 16 kilometers per hour.

In the forecast for the state the meteorological officials underlined the possibility of thundery development and rain for places including Jabalpur, Shahdol, Rewa, Ujjain and Indore divisions.
