Monreal, Ramsey, Xhaka - Latest Arsenal injury news and return dates ahead of Newcastle clash

Arsenal fans will have to wait until Monday to see the team back in action with Premier League football finally returning this weekend.

The international break and Wolves' FA Cup involvement has meant that the Gunners last played against Rennes in the Europa League two weeks ago.

Newcastle United are next on the agenda for Unai Emery's side and a win or even a point could be enough to see them move into third in the table.

Arsenal currently trail Spurs by a single point but their north London rivals face a tricky trip to league leaders Liverpool on Sunday.

The Gunners have a very good set of fixtures to end the season and Emery will have his fingers crossed that his squad are all fit and firing for their final eight league games.

Well, at the moment the manager is sweating on the fitness of five players ahead of the game against the Toon Army.

Aaron Ramsey, who will join Juventus at the end of the season, was forced to leave the Wales camp during the international break with a thigh injury, thus missing their games against Trinidad and Tobago and Slovakia.

However, his injury is not believed to be that serious and he is in line to return on Monday evening.

Sokratis and Sead Kolasinac are another two players that have also been nursing injuries over the international break.

The former missed out in Greece's game against Liechtenstein and the latter sat out Bosnia's 2-1 win against Armenia.

The good news for Arsenal is that both returned to action during the week against each other and played the full 90 minutes as their respective countries drew 2-2.

Granit Xhaka was also involved in action during the week for Switzerland as they surrendered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 with Denmark.

Unai Emery's work at Arsenal has been undervalued, misunderstood and he deserves more credit

The midfielder was replaced in the final 10 minutes and manager Vladimir Petkovic revealed after the game that he could not stay on the pitch due to an adductor injury.

Xhaka has since posted on Instagram and the wording suggests he will be all set to go on Monday against Rafael Benitez's team.

Nacho Monreal could also be set to return on Monday evening after missing the club's warm weather training camp in Dubai as a precaution over a calf problem.

Hector Bellerin, Rob Holding and Danny Welbeck remain on the sidelines with long-term injuries and are set to return to the pitch next season.
