A bicycle repair shop in Monmouth could serve refreshments – including local craft beers.
Honeysuckle Wood Bicycle and Retro Homeware on Whitecross Street has submitted a licensing application to serve alcohol for consumption on and off the premises.
The bicycle repair shop, which resides in the former Griffin pub building, specialises in “vintage and retro homeware as well as the sale, repairs and refurbishment of bikes”.

The application for the licence says: “We wish to expand our business to offer teas and coffee, but also a chance to try local craft beers that are supplied by local micro breweries.”
Customers would be provided with seating by an open fire if they wish to consume the refreshments at the shop.
The licence application does not include plans for live music, live TV or the showing of films.
The former Griffin pub became a grade II-listed building in 2005.
The Honeysuckle Wood website says: “Initially named The Old Griffin, the pub was rebuilt in the 1830s and later refurbished in the 1990s.
“The building is situated on the corner of Whitecross Street and St Mary’s Street, with both roads being main thoroughfares for the town until the mid 18th century.”
A decision on the application will be made in the coming months.
