Monklands residents urged to vote for area's outstanding medics in health awards

Monklands residents have one more week to nominate the area’s outstanding medics for recognition at the prestigious Scottish health awards.

Nominations close next Thursday, August 29, for the awards, honouring the country’s “most dedicated healthcare professionals” including NHS staff, support workers, volunteers and specialist teams “who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and support to patients and families”.

The 17 categories at the awards include honouring for the top doctor, nurse, dentist, midwife, optometrist, therapist, support worker, leader and young achiever; while also included are awards for “top team”, volunteers, mental health care, innovation, integrated care, healthier lifestyles, global citizenship and unsung hero.

Shortlisted finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony in Edinburgh in November.

The awards are supported by NHS Scotland, the Scottish Government and the Daily Record – the Advertiser’s sister paper.

Organisers say: “The Scottish health awards recognise the extraordinary work of the people on the front line of health and social care provided by our NHS and its partners; the awards reflect the amazing diversity of talent and showcase the dedication and commitment of the people who work tirelessly on our behalf.”
