Monklands residents urged to get involved with Hospice midnight walk

Monklands residents are being urged to lace up their trainers and pull on their finest bright clothing to join St Andrew’s Hospice’s midnight walk.

The popular fundraising extravaganza will return for its 11th year on Saturday, June 15 – and people can register for the event now.

Last year saw more than 750 participants complete the route including, for the first time in the fundraiser’s history, men.

Those involved will start the walk off at Ravenscraig regional sports facility and continue through Carfin, New Stevenston, Holytown, Mossend and Motherwell.

Radio DJ Gina McKie and Nicola McAleenan from the Clubbercise Motherwell organisation will get the party started before walkers set off on one of three routes – eight, 10 or 13 miles.

John Brady, the hospice’s head of fundraising, said: “We know that many people regularly go the extra mile to raise money for us here at the hospice.

“The funds generated from this event are vital in enabling us to provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to the people of Lanarkshire.”
