Monklands Hospital receives protective equipment donation

Monklands Hospital has received a donation of hundreds of items of personal protective equipement (PPE) from Barratt Homes.

The Airdrie hospital was given face masks, gloves, overshoes, safety goggles, antibacterial wipes and hand gel from the housebuilder’s currently-closed construction sites.

A total of 1700 vital PPE items from Barratt’s West Scotland division were split between Monklands and the Queen Elizabeth maternity hospital in Glasgow as NHS and care workers treat patients with coronavirus.

Managing director David Scott said: “Our NHS is doing an outstanding job in the fight against Covid-19 and they deserve to be as protected as possible.

“We appreciate all the work the doctors, nurses and care workers are carrying out by looking after those in need, and we’re pleased to be able to help by making this donation; we’re determined to support the communities in which we build and help the country through these challenging weeks.”

The PPE equipment donated by the housebuilder has passed the necessary requirements and regulations to allow its use by staff.
