Monkey with human face that looks like 'distressed man' is still looking for a wife

A monkey who sent the internet into meltdown last year for his human-like facial expressions still hasn’t been able to find romance.

The 19-year-old primate has remained single ‘mostly due to fate’, however, Tianjin Zoo keepers admitted he could turn off the ladies with his ’active’ and ‘aggressive’ tendencies.

Nevertheless, the zoo in China is still trying to find a wife for the human-faced monkey, who has been single all his life.

A spokesperson told MailOnline that the monkey, formally known as a Margarita Island Capuchin, had an 'aggressive' personality.

The spokesperson said: “He is very active and aggressive. [He] likes playing with mud and smashing coconuts.”

A video clip of the monkey shows him wrestling with a coconut, lifting it high into the air and smashing it onto the ground to crack it open.

The lone wolf has had two female companions, but both of them died, and he has played with monkeys of other sub-species in the enclosure ever since.

The zoo bought three more Margarita Island Capuchins in 2016, but none of them are sexually mature yet.

Once they are, the zoo hopes he will take one of them as his wife.

Last year the monkey stunned tourists with his extreme facial expressions, that made him look remarkably like a worried man.

A cute clip filmed by visitors went viral on Chinese social media and was viewed more than 1.5million times.

Visitors couldn’t believe how much the monkey shared similarities with humans, with his eyes wide open - as if in shock - and mouth turned upside down in a worried expression.

Commenting at the time, one person joked the monkey could in fact be the zoo keeper.

Another said: "Its eyes are trying to tell us something, don't you think?"
