Unmissable show?
There are shows that I would like to be able to watch, but don’t really have time to, like Hannibal. That’s been recorded, but I haven’t had a chance to catch up with it. Food plays a prominent role in it, but not in the way you might want it to! It’s a very dark series, but I do enjoy it. My daughter is an avid fan of The Great British Bake Off, so that’s a fun one to watch as well. I was very happy with Nadiya’s victory. Her cake was gorgeous.
Earliest TV memory?
It would be all the family getting together to watch an episode of CHiPs. Do you remember CHiPs? Larry Wilcox and Erik Estrada used to fight crime and ride motorbikes. Google it. And Fantasy Island. I remember the man in the tower shouting: “Ze plane, ze plane!”
Bring back…
I loved The Dukes Of Hazzard, but I don’t think you could redo that. They did a movie of that but it was a bit rubbish. And Happy Days. I loved the Fonz as a kid. He just clicked his fingers and the girls would go wild.
Pitch us a TV show…
It would involve me travelling to the most amazing places around the world, learning about different cultures and what they do with their food. Like what they eat on top of Machu Pichu, for example. Or I’d like to visit those homes that float on artificial islands in Thailand, to spend a week with them and see what they eat.
Mastermind specialist subject?
Shoes. No, I’m joking. It probably should be based around food. Fish, perhaps, but naming 20 species of fish on the spot would just kill you! I remember Michel [Roux Jr] went on it and did [Auguste] Escoffier. That’s his passion: he loves Escoffier, reads about him all the time, and he just went blank. I’d probably go blank as well. You could ask me what my husband’s name was and I’d probably forget. Don’t tell him that!
