MoneySavingExpert Martin Lewis shares anxiety over leaving coronavirus lockdown

Martin Lewis has revealed he is feeling "genuinely anxious" about leaving his home while the coronavirus lockdown goes on.

The Money Saving Expert founder is to leave his home for the first time in a week in order to film an episode of his hit show, The Martin Lewis Money Show.

The finance guru said he would be walking to the studio, but would be trying to make sure the next episode could be filmed from his home instead.

The 47-year-old said he felt lucky to have been able to stay at home, in "our safe bubble".

He also praised the NHS and other key workers who have had to venture out into the world to maintain essential services while the coronavirus pandemic continues to gather pace.

In another tweet, Martin added: "Yet as someone predisposed to anxiety yes I am anxious."

The government-ordered lockdown began last month on March 23, in a historic move to try to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Many shops and businesses have been forced to close, while the public is stay indoors and only venture out for one dose of exercise per day.

People have also been told to avoid seeing friends and family, and to use technology in order to stay in touch to maximise the success of the strict social distancing measures.

The lockdown rules are to be reviewed after Easter.
