'Money talks' - Manager admits reported Nottingham Forest target could leave in January

The future of reported Nottingham Forest target Sam McCallum has been discussed by Coventry City boss Mark Robins.

The Reds are one of a number of clubs linked with a move for the Sky Blues left-back ahead of the January transfer window.

Aston Villa, West Brom, Leeds United and Huddersfield have also been linked with the 19-year-old defender.

Robins stated back in September that it would take a 'monumental bid' from the Reds , or anyone else, for the League One side to cash in.

Now the Sky Blues boss admits that “money talks” but says he is still keen to keep the teenager at the club beyond January.

But will Coventry be able to see off approaches for the highly-rated defender?

“I would like to think yes, but I am not stupid,” Robins told Coventry Live.

He added: “Money talks and it’s not any different at any other club, regardless of where they are in terms of stature and division.

“If someone comes in with the right money then people will be available, there’s no two ways about it.

“But I am not looking to move anyone on. I am looking to maintain, first and foremost, and then add if I can.

“We have an injury list that has been too long for far too long and hopefully we can get one or two of those back and that eases the pressure in a good squad in which some still haven’t clicked yet, and some still haven’t made an appearance.

“So it’s just getting that balance.”
