Money Shop explains why it has withdrawn from North Wales seaside resort

The Money Shop has explained why it has withdrawn from a seaside resort in North Wales.

The short term loan and pawnbroking business closed the doors on its store in Rhyl this month - leaving a prominent unit empty in the centre of the town.

They initially didn't give a reason for the closure but have now explained why the decision was made.

A spokesman said: "As a business, we monitor the performance of our stores and sometimes we need to make tough decisions.

"The Rhyl store has closed because continued trading from that location was not viable for us.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused."

Rhyl Business Group chairman John Bellis believes that despite this closure the overall outlook for the town was positive.

He said: "This is a prominent unit so it is disappointing but compared to a couple of years ago I am a lot more hopeful about it being filled again.

"Things are looking up for the town and the centre is improving. The local authority has been investing in properties and supporting landlords to also invest.

"The attractions on the front are also bringing more people into the town which is good for footfall for the high street. I am also excited about the plans for the Queen's Market building .

"I am positive about the future."
