Money Saving Expert warns people have 24 hours to get free £125 and £20 for Uber Eats

Bank customers are being warned they have just over 24 hours to get £145 for free, just by making a simple switch.

The issue was raised in the latest Martin Lewis Money Saving Expert newsletter, who told people they had until Sunday to claim the bonus from HSBC.

If you want free cash or are frustrated with your bank it could be the perfect time to switch and it's easier than ever.

The newsletter said: "The process is easy, you do it via banks' switching services and it takes seven working days. They move all standing orders and direct debits for you, close your old account and auto-forward payments."

HSBC are currently offering new customers who switch to their advance account a free £125 and £20 to spent on Uber Eats, but the offer ends at 11:59pm on Sunday.

To be eligible for the offer you need to pay in £1,750 a month and you need to switch two direct debits or standing orders across.

If you've had a HSBC current account or a First Direct account since 2018 you won't be eligible for the offer.

There are other bank switching offers highlighted in the newsletter if you don't fancy going for the HSBC one.

Martin's team also recommend First Direct which gives those switching a free £100, a 0% overdraft and access to a 1% linked saver.

You have to pay in £1,000 within three months and to be eligible you can't have had an account with First Direct before or have opened a current account with HSBC since 2018.

Virgin Money also gets the nod from Martin's team as they offer 12 bottles of wine worth £138, they pay £50 to a charity of your choice and you also get 2.02% AER variable interest up to £1,000.

To get the offer you need to switch two direct debits across, register for their app, put £1,000 in the linked 0.35% savings account.

To be eligible you can't have had a Virgin, Clydesdale or Yorkshire Bank current account since Nov 2020.
