Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has warned ITV This Morning viewers about the tax credit deadline.
Speaking on the flagship daytime show, Martin, 47, said over five million people will have received a renewal letter.
He said: "The deadline is July 31, but I am telling you now so that you don't leave it late and there isn't a delay in your payments.
"If you don't, your tax credits could be stopped, or worse, you could be overpaid and the HMRC will ask for it back."
He also advised that you should always check your award letter, even if you don't want/need tax credits anymore.
And there was a warning about any changes in circumstances, he said: "If anything changes, tell them, tell them, tell them.
"If the number of children you care for changes, if your income changes, anything - tell them."
